Welcome to Year  6

Children in year 6 are the top of the school. This position brings with it many responsibilities – none more important than working with their Ladybird and Butterfly buddies. We hope while supporting and nurturing new members of our school community they can also have fun! Year 6 children are also role models for children in the rest of the school and they fulfil this role well.

Miss Shindler is the Year 6 teacher and Mrs Russell the teaching assistant. Children in Year 6 are lucky enough to be taught by Mrs Menmuir for English 3 days a week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). On the mornings of these days the class is spilt and while half are taught English by Mrs Menmuir, the other half are taught Maths by Miss Shindler and vice versa.

In Year 6, we encourage children to do their best and, whilst working in a supportive community, we encourage them to develop a sense of independence, pride in their work and growing confidence so that they leave Moor Hall the best they can be both socially and academically - well equipped for the next stage of their education. Making the most of all the opportunities offered to them here: academic, sporting, musical and social will stand them in good stead – form a solid base on which to build.

Our class governor is Mr Richard Southgate and we are looking forward to sharing our learning and working with him on occasions during the year. During the course of a week, year work with other adults:

Mrs. Petty for PE, Mrs Winter for French, Mr Watts for Music and Mrs Russell for P.E. We are looking forward to a fabulous year ever mindful that this is the last year of primary school – and is going to be the best!
