Secondary School Applications
Secondary School Application - September 2026
Applications for secondary school places generally opens in the September that your child starts Year 6.
Last year 99% of parents applied online via their personal computer or mobile devices. By doing this, they were able to receive an immediate acknowledgement confirming receipt of their application, as well as notification on National Offer Day of their child’s school place.
School Admissions continue to make improvements to the online form, and they will only make paper forms available if parents and carers cannot access the internet through any of the normal channels.
For parents/carers who live in Birmingham, please see the Local Authority website:

Parent/carers who live outside of Birmingham should contact the local authority who they pay their Council Tax to for further information on how to apply. If they are unsure which local authority to apply to, they can check here: Find Your Local Council
You can see detailed breakdowns of historic offers made at Birmingham secondary schools as of the national offer day each year (usually 1 March). The offers are for children starting year 7 at secondary school in September of each year. The breakdowns include offers to Birmingham and non-Birmingham residents.
